Room Details
Our child care rooms are specially designed to cater for each age group, from Babies to Wobblers, to Toddlers and up to Pre-Schoolers. Each room is laid out and equipped with high quality, age appropriate toys, furniture and resources.
BABY ROOM (6 – 15 months approx)
Through a range of play equipment and activities, together with close interaction from staff, we stimulate your child’s curiosity for the world around them.
Individual baby needs and routines are very important to us and these will be discussed with you before your baby’s starting date.
A separate sleep room, equipped with monitors, is provided to enable your baby to sleep when necessary. This room can be viewed directly from the baby room. The baby room is located on the ground floor.
WOBBLER ROOM (15 months – 2.5 yrs approx)
In this room, our main emphasis is to introduce the child to learning new social skills through play and having fun.
As children of this age have not yet learned to take turns or to share, a wide variety of similar toys are provided. The children enjoy building blocks, simple jig saws, art and crafts, dress up and messy play with water, shaving foam and play doh.
Simple books are introduced at this stage and there are lots of nursery rhymes, songs and dancing to stimulate language development.
Unlike some services, we have a separate dining room as this offers the opportunity for the children to move around from area to area during the day. The children also use the outdoor play area as much as possible, weather permitting.
TODDLER ROOM (2.5 yrs – 3 yrs approx)
Our toddler room, which is located upstairs, operates through the High scope method of play, with the room divided into different play or interest areas. It provides an exciting and challenging environment for your child’s mind and a quiet corner is also provided where the children can relax and unwind. Here your child is presented with play opportunities in a more structured way.
The room is designed so that he/she can choose from a variety of activities such as role play, art and crafts, dress up, books and imaginative play. Your child will also be introduced to simple games for 2 or more players, encouraging sharing and team playing.
Simple cookery is introduced and your child has an opportunity to partake in group activities. The children will also have plenty of opportunity to use our outdoor play area. The children are also introduced to a short session of table-top activities in the Montessori room each day.
MONTESSORI ROOM (3 – 5 yrs)
The children will have a structured period in the Montessori Method of education and will also enjoy time engaging in those activities available in the High scope room.
They will also have opportunities to enjoy basic cookery, art / crafts and sessions in our outdoor play areas. A more detailed handout is supplied to parents when their child moves into this group.
Where siblings attend the crèche in different groups or for different portions of the day, opportunities are provided for them to spend time together, if they so wish.
The service will make provision for those children attending the crèche who may have individual needs in relation to a physical or intellectual disability, taking into account the level of support an individual child may require.
